Ryan Hazelwood founded Hazelwood Engineering in 2019. Our mission is to offer cutting-edge construction management and structural engineering services to clients who appreciate the advantages of partnering with a fast and agile team. Avondale Apartments

The Avondale Apartments consists of (5) apartment buildings, a recreation building, parking garages and carports. There are 156 one- and two-bedroom units spread over 6.5 acres. The structures are wood framed.

Koko Kitchen Remodel

Koko Kitchen Remodel

Koko Kitchen is an unreinforced masonry structure located on an urban corner lot that had gone through a fire and subsequent water damage. The project consisted of a structural assessment to review the condition of remaining structural elements and providing design of the new roof.

Bigelow Warehouse

Bigelow Warehouse

The Bigelow warehouse is a 32,000 square foot tilt up concrete warehouse with a 9,000 square foot wood framed mezzanine. The space is divided into and owner-occupied unit and two for-rent warehouse spaces.

4600 Central

4600 Central

This mixed-use multifamily housing project is a five over two podium structure wrapped around a post-tensioned concrete garage. There are 155 residential units located over 10,000 square feet of restaurant and commercial spaces. The structure is a mix of post-tensioned concrete and wood framing.

699 Pioneer

699 Pioneer

This 18,000 square foot two-story office building was designed with composite concrete floors and steel support framing. The roof was designed with open web steel joists and a metal deck.

639 South Townhomes

639 South Townhomes

This multifamily housing project consisted of four three-story townhomes on an infill urban lot. The units were designed with tuck under parking and open concept living areas. The structure is wood framed walls and floor with a masonry veneer.

Russon-Mortuary

Russon Mortuary

Russon Mortuary was a commercial remodel to revitalize the exterior of a family owned business. The project consisted of designing exterior architectural elements, walls, and an entryway. All new elements were designed with wood and concrete.

Trekker Entrepreneur School

Trekker Entrepreneur School

Trekker Entrepreneur School is a charter school located in southern Utah. The project utilized wood framing and open web trusses to create large, inviting class rooms.

Stone Creek

Stone Creek

Stone Creek was a residential remodel and addition. To create more livable area, interior garage spaces were converted to livable areas. A two story mother-in-law apartment and garage were constructed adjacent to the existing residence.

Floribunda added additional livable space to a mid-century residence. The addition utilized wood and steel framing to create modern open spaces.

Dickson Cabin

The Dickson Cabin was a new family cabin built near Bear Lake. We used engineered wood products to enable a vaulted family room and expansive windows that overlook the lake.

Block Engine

Block Engine

Block Engine was an adaptive reuse of a former mechanics shop. The project was reimagined as a mix of retail and restaurant space. We provided analysis and design of the existing unreinforced masonry and tilt-up concrete structure.

Allack Residence

Vine Street

Vine street was a single family home utilizing light framed wood construction. The project features a master bedroom upper floor deck, vaulted family room, and dedicated work from home space.

The Allack Residence was a single-family home with light-framed wood construction. The project featured a drive through garage and a vaulted family room with large, expansive views.

Baxter Residence

The Baxter Residence was a hillside single-family home with light-framed wood construction and a walk-out lower level. The project featured utilization of a proprietary lateral system with a trussed roof.

Hynek

Hynek Residence

The Hynek Residence was a light-framed wood residence near Yellowstone National Park. This single story structure featured unique timber detailing, a crawl space, and attached garage.

Jones Residence

The Jones Residence was a hillside single-family home with light-framed wood construction and a walk-out lower level. The project featured utilization of concrete shearwalls at the lowest level and a trussed roof.

The Peterson Residence was a light-framed custom residence. The project featured traditional wood shearwalls with stick framed, vaulted ceilings.

The Pratley Residence was a light-framed custom residence. It featured an expansive rear deck, walk-out basement, and open floor plan.

Stagg Residence

Stagg Residence

The Stagg Residence was an extensive remodel of an existing wood-framed residence. The project involved reviewing originally blue plans, removing interior bearing elements, and creating larger open spaces.

Warner Residence

The Warner Residence was a remodel of an existing wood-framed residence. The project involved utilizing the existing foundation but reframing the entire house. The completed layout featured vaulted ceilings, large multi-slide doorways, and a retrofitted lateral system.

Building Information Modeling

Hazelwood Engineering uses the latest modeling and drafting tools to create 3-D models of all of our projects. We utilize the software to coordinate with architects and other engineers during the design stage.
